The Hotel Lodge Las Ranas is located in Playa Samara in the northwestern part of Costa Rica; in the middle of the Guanacaste province. The province of Guanacaste is the hottest and the driest of Costa Rica; therefore the temperature is nice all year round, even during the raining season, which people here call invierno (winter).

Because of the relatively dry climate in the region, there isn’t a lot of mosquito and practically no infectious diseases are present here.

The region is characterized by a lot of farmland. Even though there are a lot of mountains, most of the province is flat thus accommodating a lot of agriculture like the sugar cane.
